The opening of the patronal feast took place on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
The day began at 7:30 am with a wreath laying at the feet of Notre Dame du Bon Port more commonly known as "Virgin of the Sailors". It continued at 8 a.m. with the Mass led by Father Davis RONDOF. After the mass the procession went to the market hall under the leadership of the BARYL BAND group and the Pierrotine associations. Before the official speeches, Father RONDOF and Mayor Christian RAPHA accompanied by the Presidents and guests of honor, took place aboard a boat for a wreath throw at sea in memory of the sailors who disappeared at sea. Following these moments of contemplation, the official ceremony was opened by Mrs. Rylha MARTIAL 3rd Deputy Mayor delegated to Protocol and Events. For this edition, the Judo Club of Saint-Pierre was honored for its excellent results at the level of young people coached by Alfred ALIKER. The ASSAULT of Saint-Pierre, which stood out this year with its 24 victories in……….24 games this season, has also honored itself as well as 2 of its illustrious elders Georges VESTRIS and Jean JOSEPH presented by a talented Gérard PILON. After the athletes were the turn of the artists to be honored, this is how Sébastien SIMBA, SERGENT, Joël LUTBERT and Eddy BORDERAN were awarded by the Mayor, a trophy for their entire career. Rylha MARTIAL (3rd deputy) and Hervé PLANCHETTE (2nd deputy) were also rewarded by their colleagues on the board for the work they have done since the beginning of the mandate.
